Making meds more affordable

UnitedHealthcare’s Vital Medication Program* offers select prescription drugs at no additional cost. This means there may be no out-of-pocket cost, copay or deductible on select prescription drugs that may be essential to your health, including:

  • Insulin – rapid, short-and long-acting for diabetes
  • Epinephrine – allergic reaction
  • Glucagon – hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
  • Naloxone – opioid overuse
  • Albuterol inhaler – asthma

These categories do not determine coverage for the medication for your condition. Your benefit plan determines how these medications may be covered for you. Convenient 24/7 Virtual Visits

With 24/7 Virtual Visits, you can connect to a provider by phone or video* – on myuhc.com or the UnitedHealthcare® app. Providers can diagnose and treat a wide range of health conditions, including many of the same conditions as an emergency room (ER) or urgent care. Providers may even prescribe medication**, if needed.

24/7 Virtual Visits is a service available with a Designated Virtual Network Provider via video, or audio-only where permitted under state law. Connect with an Advocate by phone or on the UnitedHealthcare® app to get the information you need, when you need it. Specially trained Advocates are here to help you understand your benefits, make more informed health care decisions and access the care that fits your needs.

Advocate4Me member support

Advocate4Me® should not be used for emergency or urgent care needs. In an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. The information provided through the program is for informational purposes only and provided as part of your health plan. Wellness nurses, coaches and other representatives cannot diagnose problems or recommend treatment and are not a substitute for your doctor’s care. Your health information is kept confidential in accordance with the law. The program is not an insurance program and may be discontinued at any time. Additionally, if there is any difference between this information and your coverage documents (Summary Plan Description, Schedule of Benefits, and any attached Riders and/or Amendments) your coverage documents govern.

Whether you’re in a time of greater need or want to work on personal growth, you can get connected to self-help digital tools, in-person or virtual behavioral health providers and more.

These resources and programs are designed to help with a variety of concerns from depression and anxiety to mental health and substance disorder services.

Virtual emotional support

Reaching out for help may be easier from the privacy of your home. Using your computer or phone*, access confidential counseling from a licensed therapist for conditions like ADD/ADHD, anxiety, mental health disorders, addiction and depression.

Includes:

  • Private video session
  • Support for adults, children, and teens, including diagnosis, treatment, and medication, if necessary
  • The same standard of care as in-person visits, allowing you to maintain a consistent relationship with your therapist

A simpler claims process

If you are covered by both a UnitedHealthcare medical plan and a supplemental health plan – such as Accident, Critical Illness and/or Hospital Indemnity – Benefit Assist is available to you. Included in your plan at no additional cost, the program is designed to help streamline the claims process and make sure you get the benefits you re eligible for – and get them more easily.

Here’s how:

  • A Benefit Assistant proactively looks for eligible medical claims that qualify for a claim payment.
  • When they find a claim, they will reach out to you personally to help submit the claim quickly and accurately- some may be paid automatically.

Benefit Assist support is available at no additional cost to groups with a health plan and supplemental health plan from UnitedHealthcare. Benefit payments associated with the Supplemental Health Plan Benefit Assist program are subject to eligibility requirements and benefits outlined in your UnitedHealthcare policy. Orthopedic pain management

Is orthopedic pain stopping you from doing what you love? We’re here to help if you’re looking for information and support to relieve spine or joint pain. The Spine and Joint Solution is already part of your benefits, so there’s no extra cost. Our dedicated orthopedic nurse team helps you find quality care so that you can get back to your favorite activities.

Keeping care on track

Preventive care - such as routine annual checkups and certain recommended screenings and immunizations - is covered by most UnitedHealthcare plans for $0 out-of-pocket when you see network providers. A preventive care visit may be a good time to help establish your relationship with your primary care provider. It can also help you manage your health and create a connection for future medical services.

Preventive care

Certain preventive care items and services, including immunizations, are provided as specified by applicable law, including the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), with no cost-sharing to you. These services may be based on your age and other health factors. Other routine services may be covered under your plan, and some plans may require copayments, coinsurance or deductibles for these benefits. Always review your benefit plan documents to determine your specific coverage details.​
